Santiago Billy
I am a Guatemalan photojournalist and videographer based in Antigua. I began by shooting landscapes and have worked professionally since 2014. In 2016, I co-founded the visual magazine comvite.com, which ran through 2024.
My work centers on migration, climate change, cultural traditions, and natural disasters across the region. Over the past decade, I have documented the Central American migrant caravans (2018–2020), the U.S. border expulsions in 2021, the aftermath of Hurricanes Eta and Iota, and the 2018 eruption of Volcán de Fuego.
My photography and video work have appeared in The New York Times, TIME, The Economist, Vice, the Associated Press, Al Jazeera, AFP, and EFE.
